Make a Prayer Box Class
Sunday, April 3, 5:00—6:30 PM

Prayer boxes have a long-standing tradition, both among early Christians and among Jewish families. Jews and early Christians often wore small leather or carved bone boxes on the body. These phylacteries were a means of keeping scripture close to the wearer. Large boxes, called mezusah cases are still affixed to the doorposts of Jewish homes.
Today, Christian prayer boxes are similar to a prayer journal, only more flexible. They are kept on a desk, dresser or table and used for keeping prayer requests and favorite scriptures nearby. Any scrap of paper will do, anywhere, any time of the day or night.
ANYONE CAN DO THIS! Bring family, friends, neighbors and join us in painting and decorating -
your own wooden prayer box or make one as a gift for a loved one. Mother’s Day is next month!
The class will be led by artist and photographer, Katie Jackson. Box style may be different. All materials will be supplied. Cost is $5.00. (Nursery provided) Register below.
