We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God
but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us.

1 Thessalonians 2:8 (NIV)
Purpose:

P.A.L.S. is an acronym for Praying And Loving Souls. The P.A.L.S. Visiting Ministry provides a Christ-centered social connection to parishioners who are confined to their home. This ministry, through volunteer effort, visits residences, nursing facilities and other home situations. We desire to be a church community who helps these members continue to be connected to their church family. The goal is to “bring” the church to homebound members so they can continue to experience God’s goodness through fellowship with their church.

What is the Scope of the Ministry?

Through monthly in-home visits, phone calls and sending cards or letters volunteers engage the elderly/homebound person(s) through conversation and social support. Volunteers who are trained in serving Holy Communion can serve Communion to those they visit.

We visit members in their own homes or in an assisted living/nursing facility who are unable to leave their homes or have restricted travel due to temporary or chronic illness or disability.

What Do I Need to Do to Volunteer for This Ministry?

The P.A.L.S. Visiting Ministry is always looking for individuals interested in being part of this ministry. To volunteer, call the church office (706)353-1123 or email Susan Brooks at
brooks5398@bellsouth.net. .

What Training Does the Church Offer to this Ministry’s Volunteers?

Formal training will be given to all ministry volunteers and there are quarterly support meetings. Each volunteer must complete an informal interview with the P.A.L.S. Ministry Chair and/or the Pastor to ensure an understanding of what is entailed, as well as, a background screening is required of all volunteers.

How Does the Church “Match” up Volunteers to Members Visited?
z
Each person or couple requesting visits will be matched with a volunteer or volunteers that seem to be a good fit, based on personalities, hobbies, interests, etc. to ensure the pairing will result in a meaningful and mutual friendship.

How Do I Ask for a Visitor from Church?

Call the church office (706)353-1123 or email Susan Brooks at
brooks5398@bellsouth.net. Mrs. Brooks will contact the requestor to obtain basic information. She will follow up with a first home visit. After her initial assessment of the person’s needs, she will make referral to one of our ministry volunteers.
